I Can Cook

For this task I was asked to produce a mock up, double page spread for a recipe from the children's TV show 'I can Cook'.

As this is aimed at 5-7 year olds, I wanted the colour to attract them first so I decided to add a blocks of colour to the page and to have the image of the pizza overlapping the page. The designs are very simple at this stage as this is still a developing concept

It is important to include 2 different font styles, at this stage I don't particularly like the Font for the title of the recipe but this is something I would improve on. I originally had the 'Method' part of the page a bit scattered but I realised this would be a bit confusing for a child as I think the text for instructions needs to be simple and clear.

I wanted to include an image of the main presenter from the TV show as children like to see something they are familiar with so I included this image with some factual information. I feel like this can engage the child into learning.  I also wanted an element of mixed media and I quite like the look of collage, as I remember a lot of factual/ 'how to' books being in this format when I was a child.
